"A Nice Place To Live" was written based on my experiences in a really small town in Pennsylvania and the attitudes and perceptions of the people who inhabited the tiny burg. The fact that the verses and main theme have only two chords Am to G is simple, like the minds of the characters. The lyrics pretty much speak for themselves, and I really like the cheesy-breezy but "flavorful" chords in the chorus. They're a little more complicated because they represent how escaping the smallness of the small town can broaden your scope. Many years after I wrote it I met a guy who wrote a song based around almost the exact same chords. I thought that was cool. The one thing I like about this demo (and it is NOT the drums - God, I hate the way they sound) is the guitar solo - especially the way the second part comes in when the chords change. It's a rare proud moment for me on a guitar solo.
